Is the engine original
The casting number you gave doesn't exist. You are somewhat correct in deciphering the date, but it is more of an internal reference than anything else. Your block is probably a C6ME-A which appeared as a '66-67 352; '68-76 360; '66-76 390; '66-67 410; '66-70 428; '64-77 330MD; '64-78 330HD/359/361/389/391.
There is a way to ascertain with some degree of certainty whether an engine assembly is correctly "dated" and as such whether it *may* be the original assembly. It is not an exact science and involves some judgment because you have to compare all of the date codes from the engine parts and make some assumptions as to whether the engine assembly's date coincides with the production date for the truck. The parts which you should examine are the block, heads, intake and exhaust manifolds. Some of these parts are easily exchanged, of course. Date codes are a series of 4 characters starting with a number (ie, "7D12" April 12, 1967). The date code should be found directly below the oil filter housing, just above the pan lip.
BTW -- I would expect the engine assembly to have been built within 60 days prior to the truck's assembly date. Further, I would expect a 67 truck to have been built with a block that had a casting code beginning with either "C6" or "C7."[/FONT]
