Preorder questions
If I decide to go V10..
4.10 or 4.30's
I would really like to put some larger tires on this beast, no lift but would like to do a leveling kit.
Im not sure what size tires I could put on this truck 35x12.50 im guessing
without doing a lift and without rubbing?
I know fuel mileage is gonna suck
so the questions are.
What size tires with leveling kit, no rubbing
What gears to save as much in fuel cost as possible
and what could I expect for average city and highway.
Anybody with a V10 done this. I see alot of PSD guys that did it but havent run across any V10ers
leveling kit? brass tacks you don't need it, changing tire size? my personal plans are to go up one size as per tire rack to a 265 /65/17 from my 265 /70/17 in a yokohama geolander at plus 2 as i have very good luck and wear on my other trucks with them
going over board only does one thing rob your wallet.

go with the 17,18 or 20.?
Think ive read the 18s are hard to find tires for, but im open for suggestions on this area also.
If you need the heavy GVWR , you only have one wheel choice, the 18s.
That is the only way you get an 11200 GVWR on a SRW pickup.
I bought my truck to pull my 06 Montana Fiver that weighs 10000 pounds empty.
It will weigh 12000 pounds loaded and I will have 2400 pounds on the Pin . I need the extra payload that the 18" tires give.
Tire selection is poor in the 18" size but more choices are coming soon we are told.
drive the truck for at least a year before you do any thing as by then you know if you have a good or bad one. then if you want to play a little have fun
I dont have my brochure with me, left it at home....
the 11200 then is equal to the 6.0s GVWR right?
My model CC LB F350 with the V10 is 11200 same model with a PSD is 11500. That is with 18" wheels.
Being that the V10 is 500 pounds lighter than a sick litre that means I gain 200 pounds of legal payload but I also get a pickup without a 500 pound boat anchor out front that makes the truck handle like a Suma wrestler trying to figure skate.
The same truck as mine with 17" wheels would only be a 9800 LB GVWR so if you want a big payload you are married to the 18s.
I like the 18" aluminum wheels and my Contis are not that bad.
11200 GVWR on SRWs is pretty impressive and for years one ton Dually Chevs were only 10000 GVWR.
All the SRW GMC and Dodge trucks are still only 9900 GVWR and I have made a few owners of those trucks a little embarassed when I open my driver's door and show them what a SD can haul LEGAL BEAGLE.
I have won quite a few bets on this issue because a Dodge brochure really hides the SRW GVWR very well and the Dually rating is what a lot of guys think they got. WRONG. I love it when Ford smokes the competition.

1. its coming with 4.10s, Im going to change for the 4:30 Gears. Hope it doesnt result in more fuel useage
2. Steps.
They make two sets of chrome ones, theres a smaller chrome step and theres a larger chrome step. The larger ones the ends curve in towards the truck (unlike the smaller ones) the step area is larger also.
Ford site only shows "Chrome steps" so which ones am I getting and how do I make sure I get the larger ones. ?

Rear Auxiliary springs

My current truck I use for Snowplowing, even though I will be keeping it for a while I want to get the SnowPlow pkg just in case something happens and I need to put a plow on the new rig.
Some of the tire-wheels choices are not availabe with the Camper Pkg (20's) and since
I will probably never have a slide in camper i wonder if im better off not having this option on the truck(it was on the order) and instead get the Stabilizer pkg.
Basically with the snow plow prep
Im getting the Rear auxiliary springs (From the camper pkg)
and with the stabilizer pkg im getting the heavy service front springs and rear stablizer bar (from the camper pkg)
So the only thing Id be missing is the Certification correct?
And where does this leave me with the GVWR?
5. This leaves me with the wheel and tire combo which is leaving me stumped at this point. So I need some help. The 20inch wheel/tire combo is not availabe when you select the camper pkg option. Im not sure what my best overall value is, when choosing the tire wheel combination. whether its 17's 18's or the 20s

I would not be worried about 20" wheels. But that is me. I would choose the 18" wheels for the added GVWR weight. Plus...if you add larger tires...then you will probably need new wheels anyway. 35" tires are to large for the stock wheels (I think???).
Go snow plow package.
Good luck with it...and enjoy that new V10 3v! It is a beast!

I ran into this expensive problem with my current F350..I had a 2000 F250 SD insure with INFINITY SELECT(great rates) and when I bought my F350 they would not insure my 2001 F350 1TON or any 1TONS(company policy) so,I had to go to progressive/drive and get a policy from them to insure my 1ton F350...
Just thought you should atleast look into this with your on insurance company..
Congrats on your soon to be super duty...
Just something to thing about.
