Oil coolers

Hi. I'm trying to find the coolant to oil coolers Ford used in police cars and towing vehicles to fit a small block Windsor. I've seen articles with them being supplied coolant from the heater hose. Where can I find these now?
Thanks.

What you want is called an Oil-to-water oil cooler or heat exchanger. Here's one I came across:

Scroll down a little bit and you can see them. They're sort of crappy drawings, but the one on the left looks like one I have that came off a CHP Mustang that I parted out. It simply screws on to the oil filter mount and the filter then screws onto it. Good if you have the filter space for it, it's about 2 inches thick. Similar to this one, even though the one in the pic is on a Chevy:

Will that Cooler/ Filter deal keep the engine cooler in hot weather? My engine runs all the way up the guage when in traffic , so I run the defrosters...(UGHHH...) and the temp drops some til I get moving again and it cools down again...(1977 F150) 302 cu. in.

I haven't used it so I can't attest to it but the CHP used them for years (maybe still do) so it must help some. The radiators in the Special Service Mustangs were the standard two-row core units, so the only additional cooling they had was that oil cooler.

I just found out they were manufactured by Modine.

It's not to keep the engine cool, its to keep the engine oil cooler.

I have discussed this before, since I am looking to put one on my 393. The person I talked to who had one on their mustang said he went from about 270 to about 210 for oil temperature.

That's nice.

The warmer the oil the more viscosity it has, it thins out. So the oil cooler helps keep the temp down when you're running it hard or in hot weather for better lubrication and more pressure. I don't know how much extra pressure he saw out of it though...probably not a lot. It's main thing is to just keep the oil cooler.
