I am working on a 1978 F150 4x4 that has a 351 4bbl clevland in it. When I but it in any gear it real shacks the truck. The truck stuters a little at initial take off . I am also having backfires through the carb when trying to accerate. Can you give me your opinions.I bought the truck with the motor already in. Drives down the road with out vibration. Thanks
Bad engine mounts
Slop in the driveline - maybe one of the U-joints, or even a differential
Timing - check this just to be sure (backfiring out the carb could be an indication of the timing being off)
Dumb question, but you don't have it in 4WD do you?
It is an Automatic. Mileage is unknown. The shacking takes place as soon as you put the truck in gear with the brake applied and still stopped. As you take off truck stuters alittle and the goes fine. Thanks for any help provided
