flushing 400 block?

flushing 400 block?
does anyone know the best way to flush out a 400 block. i am speaking of the cooling part. the engine is still in the truck. i know over the years alot of rust/sediment has piled up in the bottom of the block and was wondering how to get it out so my engine would run cooler. what is the best thing to put in there to break that stuff up to get it out? thanks....

I myself just pull the block plug drain the block and the radiator. then feel it back up with water and do it again then I leave the top hose off and put a water hose in the radiater and let the motor run when the thermastat opens up it will push alot of water out. but rather it is safe or not dont take my word I did it with my motor to flush them out but people have told me that I could easyly over heat my motor but I dont see why when I got constent water running into it. as for antifrezee I use the ordanary green. Just a thought

You can get a flush kit at most auto stores. It tee's into one of your heater lines and helps to run the water in a reverse direction. You could also add some Prestone cleaner and run it for a few minuters and flush again.
Be carefull not to introduce a bunch of cold water into a hot block.
