I have an 02 Screw ready for 4 new shocks......I've got some questions:
1.) What kind of shocks came with my stock 02 Screw 4X4? Rancho; Motorcraft; etc?
2.) What would be a very good replacement for the 4? I do NO off roading and only highway & street driving.....
3.) I would buy the shocks and have a mechanic install them.... What can I look at paying for just installation of the 4 shocks?
Rancho shocks come in the FX4 package. They would fit on your truck as well, the FX4 is just an "off road" package with skid plate and rancho style shocks, etc. Im not sure what brand comes stock with your basic XLT truck...there is no reason why rancho wont fit, its the same truck...just some different options. My thoughts are that the Rancho that comes in the FX4 are a "stiffer" shock than your basic. Im not sure about question 1-2 but hope this helps alittle.
Monroe Reflex has worked well for me. I changed the stock ones at about 65,000 and it made a world of difference.
Call a couple of places regarding installation prices. It should take a shop well under two hours- probably even less than one hour to do.
Also, it's fairly easy to do the job yourself with basic tools. If you have any friends who like working on vehicles you might even talk one into helping you for a six pack and a sandwich.
