littleme, I wasn't offended to start out and there are times that have nothing to do with fuel economy for losing weight, I do things to my ranger that might shave 2 pounds here and there but it adds up, I do it because that is a pure adn simple race vehicle and shedding weight is very important thus why I looked at this thread in the first place. my point on that is weight savings can have a lot of implications and sometimes it can have to do with the ability to haul more weight, take a semi for example a lot of people think alum rims are just for looks but on a semi they reduce the empty weight by 25lbs each multiply that by 18, and then figure what it pays if your getting paid $20 per ton you haul and you make 20 trips per day (using some very round numbers here just for the example) working 5 days a week, 50 weeks per year will add a $22,500 to your yearly paycheck not bad for spending a little extra for alum rims is it?

Speaking of titanium, from what I understand with new technology forged titanium rods, guys are able to get the weight savings of aluminum but the longevity of forged steel. They are costly but they are nice.
