Anyone ever replaced the plastic bed rails?
I got to thinking about it, because they really aren't that expensive. Painting the old ones would be an option, I did the heat gun thing and it sorta worked, but I waited way too long to try and save them from the sun here in Socal. There is something being offered on TV, Wipenew...but I figured it would just be a short term fix.
Whataya think???

I tried taking them off of my 2005. Way too much force was required and I still couldn't get even one of the tabs to snap out. I ended up grabbing 2 cans of Krylon Fusion in satin black, and 4 newspapers. It came out great. I cant speak for longevity though as I traded the truck in only a month after I did this. I also did the wiper cowl at the same time. World of difference.

Thanks BigDaddy...so how did you prep the plastic before you painted it? I figure that a good cleaning with a brush should remove most of the grey "oxidation" (if that's the right word to describe the faded stuff!!) and let the paint stick.
I noticed that you're from Loosyanner. My wife has been wanting to head to "Nawlins". (she's a yankee from Long Island NY, so that's how she sez it.) My wiper cowl is warped from direct sunlight so I may replace that part unless I can screw it down without making it look crappy.
