Breathing Question

Is a cold air intake worth the cash? I just put on duals and a programmer. Didn't know how much difference the cold air would make. Any thoughts.

Have you taken a look at the stock intake? It IS a cold air unit. Just wrap it up in some insulated aluminum tape (to keep the air from absorbing the underhood eat), and thats it!

Thanks wheelma1. I'll try that. I haven't look under the hood yet but that does make since. Should I still change out to a k&n filter? I've heard that they aren't as great as all the hype.

No, a K&N is not a good upgrade. It is all around worse than the stock Motorcraft. The stock unit filters MUCH better, and flows more than enough to satisfy any of the motors offered in these trucks.

Well you can use cheap aluminized tape from a place like Home Depot, or use some of the thin, trick stuff offered by Design Engineering (DEI.com I think...not 100%). You will want to wrap everything if possible, from where it enters the fender, to the cast intake.
