Bellhousing?

What would be the bellhousing on a 300 4.9L from a 79' Ford F-150?

it's the same bolt pattern as a 302/351w series type engine if this is what you are asking.

The 435 has a 8 1/2 W X 6 1/4 D bolt pattern.

well, the NP205 is a transfer case, and the NP235 is a transmission.

Sorry I realized that after I posted it. Now If I have a 400M will it bolt up to a NP435 without an adapter. If No where can I get an adapter?

With the proper bellhousing yes
The 435 came with 2 different input shaft lengths so there is a 2 different bellhousings.
They will both bolt up but the wrong one will make your input either to long or to short. I cant recall off hand the measurements on these I got one setting in the shop floor I'll check it get back to you on it.

Well mine appears to have the short input 5 1/2 ''
The long version is 6 1/2 ''
In any case what you need to look at with the bell mounted to the trans is about a 1/4 -1/2 inch of the pilot shaft to extend passed the engine mounting surface of the bellhousing. This will put the pilot fully in the bushing with out bottoming out.
