Will a 4 speed and transfer case from a 78 bronco bolt into a 78 pickup 4x4 with the same motor. I know the auto from the bronco has a longer tail stock. Thanks in advance.
Just did that swap in my 79 250. It went right in, I just had to move the t-case mount up. Your driveshaft lengths will be a little off too. The front may be to long and the back a little short. I'm still using them until I get new ones I just wouldn' beat on it too hard. Assuming you can take all the parts you need off the bronco it should go pretty good for you.
just did the exact same swap took a manual trans t18 out of a 78 bronco and put into a 78 f150 that originaly had a c6 what i found was the t18 and np205 transfer case are the same length as a c6 and t case was able to use the same driveshafts without any modification ,,the front driveshaft is the same for both the truck and bronco i had ,,,,but the np435 is a little shorter by about 1 inch or so so eventually drive shaft modifications will be needed if thes the trans you go with hope this helps
direct swap, except maybe wallowing the tcase adapter mount to crossmember to make the bolts fit. use the donor front driveshaft as long as the front axle yoke size is the same. rear shaft can be found from a manual tranny 4x4 in the junkyard, or have one made.
mine was a direct bolt in didnt have to wollow anything out the only thing i had to do was use the rear yoke from the original t case because it was smaller but after i changed that it has been good used the original crossmember but used the trans mount off of the manualhave put about 300 miles on truck now and it is great
wish i wiould have done the swap a year ago
I did the same swap using the T-case and Transmssion off a Bronco on my 1975 F150 4x4. The drive lines will work temprorarly but if you do fourwheeling or off angle 4bying the drive line will need to be checked for proper fit and on my truck I need to extend but drivelines because I installed a 4 inch lift..
