switch to synthetic

I plan to switch to synthetic oil in my '06 PSD at 7k. Can I just refill with the synthetic oil at my next oil change or is there some sort of flushing procedure that has to be done?

Very strigent and controlled procedure - must follow all steps:

Steps to be done in order:

1) Buy case of beer

2) Buy synthetic oil of choice

3) Buy oil filter

4) Drink 1 beer

5) Buy 36mm socket to remove oil filter cap

6) Turn on radio in garage

7) See #4 above

8) Loosen oil filter housing and let drain

9) Remove drain plug and drain oil pan - 14 qts

10) See #4 above - while waiting for oil to drain

11) Remove oil filter and replace with new filter and o-ring - tighten

12) Re-install drain plug if totally drained

13) See #4 above - much needed rest

14) Pour in 13.5 qts of synthetic oil that you bought

15) Start motor and let oil pressure come up - 1-2 minutes

16) See #4 above - As you let oil drain back into oil pan.

17) Check oil level on dip stick and add accordingly.

18) Drink the balance of your case of beer for a job well done and enjoy your synthetic oil!!!!!

Hey Beach, your step #5 needs a 5a-c branch...

5a) realize you have the oilguard system installed and the socket does not work
5b) see #4 above while pondering how to remove pretty red cap w/o scratching it
5c) wrap some electrical tape around a cresent wrenct and remove oil filter cap

You might want to add: 19) Take keys out of truck. 20) Wait until tomorrow to test drive. 21) Refer to #4 when you get back home
