Ok, Ive got a no start here. 4.9 engine. Its had both fuel pumps replaced, fuel filter, cap, rotor, wires, distributor, tfi module. Has plenty of fuel pressure. Spark looks ok. Its in time. Just wont start, it will sputter and try to start, but just wont do it. Havent checked compression, but does anyone have an idea?
Put a shot of fuel in the Throttle Bodies or a squirt of Starting Fluid. Try starting, if you get a rapid start and rise in RPM then you definately have a fuel issue. If you don't then you're back to the ignition side of the problem. Did this problem start before or after replacing all those parts?
Before. The guy that was working on it started throwing parts on it and messed up alot of stuff. Got it straightened out. I had to put a dist. in it because the stator went bad. I think Ive got a ground issue with the coil because the spark is white, not blue. So I dont think its getting hot enough to start it. But itll almost fire, just doesnt quite have enough to do it
I had a similar problem with my 92" 302, Took it to the Ford garage, they said no code, can't help. Kept reading on FTE and someone suggested changing the plugs, I said what do I have to loose. Wala, runs like a champ.
The old plugs looked good, but the gap was 70K and causing the spark to jump inside the dist. and cause it to misfire like a cracked dist. cap. 20 bucks and 1/2 hr. of your time. Cheap fix, unless your a doctor or lawyer.
Good Luck, hobo
Got a chance to mess with it some today. Fixed a ground problem I had, got good blue spark. Now, heres the crazy thing, the intake pipe has been off. Ive had the key on, and noticed GAS was trickling out of the t-body. I also happened to have the vacuum line off the regulator and its streaming gas out of the connector for the vacuum line. Whats the chance Ive got a bad regulator and thats the problem? I mean it acts like its flooded out, if you hold the pedal to the floor, itll almost start, but it wont. But, the spark plugs arent really soaked in gas, what gives? Flaming rag in the gas tank?

Yes you have a bad fuel pressure regulator.
It would be flooded if gas is coming out the TB.
You may have a bad injector(s) also.
Do not have a clue why the plugs are not wet.
