My dad just gave me his 1990 F150. I just got my liscense and I'm fixing it up. I put some bigger tires and wheels on it and then i put dual exhaust. I thought I would be done but when i got it back it was not nearly as loud as I had planned on it being. The place I got it done put a glass pack and then a y pipe. when I say it is not loud I mean you can bearly hear it. It is a six cylender so I know it wont get LOUD but there must be somethuing i can do. Is there anything anybody can suggest for me to do???
before you say it ain't loud enough, stand behind it and have someone drive away. it will be quiet inside the cab and in front of it, but it will be allot louder behind it.
Well the 6 can get LOUD but that dosnt mean it would sound good. Getting a good sound out of your 6 is going to take a lot of research. Theres a lot of threads on this topic, what size 6 do you have? also what tjc said was smart, id do that first. My buddy has a mustang and after he had his exhaust done he let me drive it so he could hear it going down the road. He didnt know his car was that loud.

Would it do anything if i gutted the catalytic converters and left the glasspack? Where i live they do not do emmisions test but they check that you have everything.
Could always drop a 302 in there, grab some headers then try the whole glasspack thing haha. Actually this last weekend I ran into a guy that has a 300 6 in an 84 or so ford 150. He got a manifold from a newer 6 and ran dual exhaust with 2 glasspacks and it sounds really good for a 6!

serenity now! lets not start the 302 vs 300 debate
I've redone the exhaust on my 300 I6 many times trying to get it how I like it. It all depends on how you want it to sound. Those cats do hold back quite a bit of sound. Since they check and make sure you have everything, I agree with what someone said before. Run a pipe through your cats and see how that works out. They don't check anything whee I live, so I just cut em both out and ran straight pipes, 2 1/2" duals back to 4" tips. It's real loud, and doesnt sound bad at all I don't think. I set off car alarms like ya wouldn't beleive.
