Questions about VIN
I have a 79 f100, VIN F10GPEK0635, I know what the first 5 digits are but what are the rest. I am looking to find out what its original transmission was. As of now I believe it has an imposter 170f toploader 4 spd tranny in it.

Does your truck have a 302 or a 300 6cyl? If it does they put a top loader tranny in the trucks that came with overdrive.

it has a 302, but the code (RUG CD) is an imposter toploader according to http://www.davidkeetoploaders.com/imposters.htm website. Not sure if its original or not.
