is this worth it ???

Should I go to Jiffylube and pay $40 for the fuel injection cleaning service or should I just buy a bottle of additive and do it myself ? Ive seen them do the service and it basically looks the same unless I missed something.

Buy the black can from your Ford dealer. The only injector cleaning service worth it (IMO) is when they pressurize the fuel rail with the cleaner. If the Jiffylube folks will do THAT service, then it's worth the $40.

Pressurizing fuel rail

You are so right about pressurizing the fuel rail. That is well worth having done and if it's been a while, you may find quite a noticeable improvement in performance. I did.

yeah Jiffylube does it some other way like unplugging the brake booster vacuum hose and feeding the cleaner thru there. Sp I guess its basically the same if you were to just add the treatment to the fuel tank.

What did that BG service run you? It looks like only dealerships as authorized dealers in my area, so I can't imagine it being very reasonable...

It was around 80, call the service dept and ask.

You can also get a can of the BG 44k at Carquest...really helpful with a tank of 93 octane.

And this cleans the INJECTORS how? What you describe seems more of an lower intake cleaning (valves) to me.
