Ok, I Have All Three Of My Gauges Installed And In The Painted Window Mount. Looks Great!! :-d The Kit From Dieselmanor.com Had Everything, And I Mean Everything Included For Install!
The Only Thing That I Have Not Done Yet Was Drill That Hole For The Pyro. I Guess The Kit Is Missing Something..."r" Drill Bit.
I Know That The Dash Gauges (ha) Where Crap, I Pulled My Tractor And Trailer..22000 Lbs, On Wed. And The Trans Temp Meter Never Moved From Where It Is One Min. After Start Up. The New Isspro Gauge Took So Long To Show A Temp Above 100 Deg. That I Did Not Think It Was Installed Correctly. I Will Order A Water Temp. And Oil Pres. Soon!
One Thing I Did Not Like Too Much About The Install Kit, But It Was Small, Were The Inline Splice Clips. I Will Come Up With Something Better For Later On. I Can't Wait Untill It Gets Dark!!!!!!!!!
i am also considering more gauges. i am thinking water temp, oil presure, and fuel pressure. torn between the overhead mount (not sure because i have the lieometer) or the cubby down low mount. glad to hear the install wasn't too bad. i have checked and checked wiring, but i cannot get my trans temp to move. maybe ill need to haul something to get the temps up higher. it is 30-50* out and im not pulling anything.
Sorry to have to tell you, but 72 here. That might be the diff. It took over 8 miles for the temp to come up where it moved the needle off of 100*. Would I have a need for a fuel pressure gauge? I am only running Supper Chips and cold air intake, I will also install 5" exhaust next year. Boy what a long time! As for the overhead, I do not see that it would get in the way of the stock overhead, but I don't have one.
I also wanted to say how much I like watching the boost gauge...cool!
i started off not wanting to do anything to my truck, but as you can see, what i have now is nothing i would have planned. probably the same here with you, as you said that you were getting some more stuff. it will just keep compiling on top of each other. go ahead and "overachieve", you will appreciate the fuel pressure gauge when you do a regulated return system in the fall.
I'm going to have a 4 gauge pillar mount installed soon with trans temp, boost, pyro, and fuel pressure. I'm also considering the 3 gauge pod that's down by the cubby for water temp, oil pressure, and oil temp. I looked at the windshield mount, but when I look at the space between my mirror and the temp/compass on the console, I just don't see how it would fit in there.
Like you guys, my trans temp doesn't move much at all. But, it's been cold and I've only been running empty. It ususally does come up, but only to about 90-100 degrees above ambient temperature.
Bill, consider a BTS valve body over the Sonnax kit. The sonnax kit is good, but the BTS is much better. I've had the sonnax, and switched to the BTS valve body. I like the way is shifts a lot better, and you can adjust the shifts too if you want. It's more expensive, but IMO the better way to go. Find out more by calling Brian at www.brianstruckshop.com
Also, you don't really need a fuel gauge right now. Since I've done the external regulated fuel system, I wanted one to monitor the fuel pressure. I also have some concerns about my fuel pressure dropping at WOT in the upper RPM range, so I would like to monitor that as well. But, I've got some turbo upgrades and a DP Tuner chip that is most likely pushing a lot of fuel. You don't need a fuel pressure gauge, but for me it's peace of mind to have one.

Were can I find the BTS valve body kit? The BTS web site does not list any of their products.
Those prices are about right, but for me, the performance difference is worth it. Just like there's nothing you could do to get me to give up my DP chip, there is no way you could get me to go back to the Sonnax valve.

I got the same kit, was really easy to install and good instructions. One thing I ran into when I bought mine, the directions which I had read several times, said to drill and tap a 1/4" ntp for pyro. I did that, then saw in the pyro prob box a small piece of paper that said they had changed to 1/8 npt. I had a big hole and a small probe! They sent me a 1/4 sleeve, but brought the install to a halt!
I love the gauges, especially the color-coded pyro! They look great at night and match factory perfectly! I too thought the trans sender was bad. I checked everything and gave up. I drove, towing, for a couple hundred miles before I hit warmer weather and the gauge crept up over 100. It was pretty cold, didn't even think about that, generally the trans temp is about 80 degrees or so above ambient.
