Im out of ideas on what to do to stop this filter base from leaking at the connections. First i tried using reg. teflon tape. all of my connections leaked. I was bummed. Then i dissasembled everthing and got the good stuff. i went back together with everything with the good liquid teflon. I still have two leaks. Am i doing something wrong. this assembly isnt rocket science and have used the liquid teflon before and never had any probs..
Ther two leaks im left with are at the base where the valves screw in.
Any ideas or tips thanks. i hope some can chime in before i send this thing back.
are you sure the connections are tight enough? i am not sure, but it would make sense to me for these to be NPT tapered pipe thread, which seals itself tighter as it goes. i noticed on mine that they would all go in a certain distance and just get really tight. i used teflon tape and have had NO problems so far, about a week.
Yeah, with the npt fitting the teflon is more of a back-up not the primary sealing source. everything's tight. was never overtighted as i checked the threads when i went to reaseal it. {just sec. guessing myself}. Im lost. and from my experience the liguid teflon is far better than the roll of tape kind.
After my coolant filter install she leaked from both input and output so i turned
her tighter till she stopped.I used teflon tape and didn't need to turn much for
a good seal(maybe 1/3 turn tighter).No leaks since.
Nut
that one is actually 1/4 the area of the one that i originally uploaded. thats 480x640, and the original was 960x1280. i first posted it without resizing and it was HUGE.
I've got the same one strokin does, and I have not had a bit of problems with leaks. I just made sure that the connections were really tight. You can usually go about a full turn past hand tight without any problems. I may have even gone more on a couple of them. I've got some shut off valves in mine that I wanted to be lined up on the top. Here's what they look like installed on mine:
