i have a problem withhe cooling system. i put in a bottle of sealer into the radiator to stop a leak. it stopped the leak, but now the temp gauge goes up and down from cool to hot all the time. i put a new thermastat in and it still does it. any help on what might be causing this would be great!
Thats the reason why you don't use stop leak as I say it doesn't target anything so it plugs everything. Your coolant passages have probably been constricted by the stop leak and the cooling system is operating inefficiently.
The only way to remedy this is to either backflush the system with a kit to get this junk out or have it flushed professionally. After the flush get a new radiaitor or you could possibly get the old one repaired at a radiator shop.

No - do not delete this message. You are right. Stop leak is the worst thing you can ever add to your cooling system...unless you are in some kind of a pit race situation.
Reason why the temp gage goes up and down is the thermostat is now compromised.
