Hey guys I think im picking up a 99 250 Light Duty, its the regular style looks like an F150..
What makes these an F250 if its not a super duty? And who makes lifts for these? Are they the same as the F150 lifts? Thanks guys for your help in advance..

The GVWR is somewhat higher than the F150 of this era, but lower than the SD.

The 4x4s came with two options in '99. The 7200lb and the 7700lb. The 7700lb GVWR variety was snow plow rated. For comparison the SD has an 8800lb GVWR and the highest F150 from that era ('97-'99) was around 6600lbs.

The 250LD has the higher GVWR bacause of the heavier duty components installed, such as rear axle (10.25"), springs, tortion bars, shocks, frame, brakes, 7 lug wheels, 'E' rated tires among other items depending on the options.

Technically no suspension lift is available. However, I have read that people simply use larger U-bolts due to the larger diameter rear axle. The front end uses similar components as the F150. Placing an F150 lift on the 250LD will degrade the GVWR as these kits were made for the lighter duty F150s.

Ah ok thanks I understand now,so basically Im stuck to just sticking bigger tires on it and calling it a day huh?
Im really only pulling an open trailer or a 24ft haulmark, which is pretty light
3300lb car in it so it shouldnt have a problem..but I dont wanna mess it up if its gunna make things screwey by lifting it...

The body lifts do work, as far as I know. That way you do have some extra clearance for the larger meats.

Depending on the weight of the vehicle you should have no problem towing 5000#.

I wouldn't advise the lift, unless you were using the truck strictly for show.

Ok I gotcha, whats the biggest tires those things can fit without any sort of body lift or something?will a 285/75/16 fit?that would be nice and give it a lil higher ride at least.

That question I'm not sure on. They sound possible, and I'm sure the F150s max sizes fit on these rims. There should be a sticky at the top of the forum about tire sizes.

I'd recommend looking for a load rating to match, though. Your tow rating and GVWR will drop. I'm not sure by how much.
