Glow Plug with no power

Hi to all

I have a 1994 Ford F-250 4x4 long bed 7.3 turbo just before the power stroke came out, I need to find a wiring diagram of the engine electrical and the glow plugs. The one I have found are not the same, I am not get power to the glow plugs, I have had the wiring harness and contorler replaced about two years ago(lot of money). I have the tow package I did fine a 30a fuse burn out (a big one) and replace it no help, not sure if it had sometime to do with the glow or not. I think there must be a in line fuse or relay. would apreciate all help before I take it back to the dealer and spend some more bid bucks.

If you are into doing your own work and troubleshooting you cant go wrong by going on e-bay and buying a CD for your truck. Search 94 f-series repair maunual CD you will find what you need. It will be the best 6 bucks you ever spent. My local dealer had no information for the wiring on my 93 f-350 4x4, in fact had wiried in a standard relay system for the tow package, which wasn,t required as they only needed to install the right relays in the power box, about 14 dollars CND. I am amazed at how much info is on the CD.

On top of the controler there are 210awg yellow wires that supply power for the system all the time.if you dont have 12v you may have burned up the fuse links or the harness plug.

Welcome to FTE dbrown57.

This is a picture of the glow plug controller and relay that is on your truck.
It is mounted in the rear center of the intake manifold and has a plastic cover on it that snaps off.

Check for power on the battery terminal of the relay.
Then with the key in the ON position check for power on the Ignition terminal.
Also check the black ground wire to see it has a good ground.

Tell us what you find after the above tests.

Hi all

I have found the trouble a bad ground on the controller. After reading the posting I tested the controller and cleaned the ground wire and it started working. I would like to know if that fuse controll the glow plugs so I think I will look at the Cd. Thank you all for your help and you Dave for the picture.

No fuses, there are fusible links that control the power to both the glow plugs and ignition circuits.

I ran a separate ground straight to the battery to solve the grounding problem. Tried cleaning and after a few months I had to do it again. Been 4 years and not had a problem after hooking to battery.
