Last night coming home I lost charging power to my batteries.... No idoit light came on, but lost alot of voltage, the gauge read about 8-10 volts. I had replaced the alternator last fall. Looking for any suggestions that you guys might have. With the idoit light not coming on I am unsure if it is the alternator, or how can i check it? Thanks

Test for appprox. 14.5 volts dc while engine running. Check all electrical connections to the alternator for tightness and corrosion too.

Just replaced the alternator, and voltmeter guage in truck seems to be running normal. Left truck running with heater blower running with lights and see if the voltage drops! Counterperson at local parts store just swaped for new rebuilt since I knows me.... and remembers me buying in the fall. It was weird that he idiot light didnt come on, as the last alternator I changed the light flickered for a while and then came on constant untill I replaced the alternator.
