I just aquired a 1976 2wd pick up with special striping and dash emblems denoting it as a special bicentennial edition. I'v never seen or heard of this truck. Has anyone else? How many were produced, and are they worth anything.Truck runs great,no rust.I just don't want to mess it up if it is worth something. If it is worth restoring i would like to do that. Any help would be great. Thanks mdavis4172(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
MD, I don't think you have a truck with much added value, if it was in showroom condition, it could be. If you like your truck and have the means to restore it, then go ahead. Someone can always come along and want it, but until he does and has the money to back up his talk, you have a nice conservation piece.

In the still cool hours of the night, you can hear chevys rusting away.
I've been asking Ford dealers and truck enthusiasts about my 76 ford bicentennial for the last 5 years. This is the first I've heard of someone else owning one. I was beginning to wonder if I had the last one. Someone must have some info. Please respond.
I just became a user of this site.
I, too, own a 1976 Bi-centennial Edition. It is a F-100 Custom. I don't know much about it either. I have owned mine 11 years. I am having it redone. I had the motor rebuilt in 1995. It has almost 20,000 miles on the rebuild--around 145,000 (if odometer only has gone around once!!) on the truck itself. I have been searching ever since I bought my truck for information about it. I have been told by some Ford dealers that it might be some "Texas/Oklahoma Package". I live in Texas, and the truck was orginally bought in Texas. However, I know that these trucks were sold NEW in California in 1976! I have seen several other trucks like mine--all were in Texas, within 150 miles of where I live.
I have a web-site up with some pictures:1976 F-100 Bicentennial Edition . As soon as I get the truck home, I'll update the pictures and the site.
I've never heard of this truck either but interested in learning more. What kind of engine options came with the truck? Engine sizes, Colors? Did it only come in F-100?
There is a user somewhere on this site who also has one. His is a 4x4. Ford made the trucks as a special edition to celebrate americas 200th anniversary. Keep it restore it. Enojoy it. Take it to car shows. Let it be seen. Maybe find out some production numbers if you can.
My truck is white, with the decal along the side. It has Blue interior, bench seat and vinyl floor mats. The engine is a 300 6-cyl and 3 speed tranny on the column. All the trucks I have seen (six) were all white with the decal on the side--just like mine. One was a F-150 with a 400 and automatic. But the guy said the engine was not original. Mine is original, except for the rims. I do have the hubcaps and rims!

I was under the impression that ALL '76 XLTs (and only '76s) had red, white, blue letters on glove box - as a tribute to the bicentennial. But I could've been fed some hot air - correct me if I'm wrong (as always).
