know problems with '98 4.0SOCH's
Hello... Im skooting over fromthe 80-86 Truck posts b/c I may be getting a 98 Explorer with the 4.0L SOCH Auto XLT. The truck has 20,000 miles on it (yes you read right) and i know everything that has been done on the vehicle, including oil changes, washed, waxes and brakes. Reason i know all that is b/c it is my mother's vehicle right now.
Reguardless, Is there any known problems with the Explorers of the 98 model year?

ive never heard of a heater blend door. price wise, that aint bad. I expected the rear wiper problem, as my mom traded in a 89 Bronco II on the Explorer. it had the same issues and 30,000 on it lol. I rarely use the rear wiper as is.
On the door locks and windows... does the motor go or what? It has the Pwr locks and Windows, but no sun/moon roof.

more possibles when you've got more miles: Idle air controller (see sticky), inner and outer tie rods, upper and lower ball joints, thermostat (60K mi), overheating CD stereo or bad display, seat recliner spring assembly and lever, recall M02.

i have the bad display right now. i hink im gonna solve that by an after market CD player. the theromostat out to be fun... and the rest i'd expect to go, exept 4 the Tie rods... that interesting.
