Help please!

hey how's everyone doing, ive been looking around on here for a while but cant seem to pin point the answer. I have a 2001 navigator and my concern is gas. i am working alot now to save money for it because the college i am goin to attend is about 50 miles away from home. i will stay on campus but my job is going to be here where i live now. now my question is how many times a week do you think i will have to fill up with gas and about how much it will cost? thanks in advance

P.S. is there ANYTHING i can do to boost my mileage up just a little bit? and what kind of mileage are u guys getting?

Welcome to FTE 01Gata.

The mileage you get will depend on how those 50 miles are driven. Highway at 55-70, you'll see about 15MPG. If its a lot of stop and go, well, you're looking at about 8-10MPG.

Considering that you are headed off to college (good for you) I'll let you figure out the rest.

One thing you'll need to know: the capacity of your tank in about 30 gallons.

The things you can do to improve mileage? Easy, slow starts; keep the RPM's below 2K, and perhpas a tad more air pressure in the tires.

Note: normal disclaimers apply regarding any suggestion to operate your vehicle with tire pressures in excexx of the manufacturer's recommendations.

I drive 130 miles a day to work and back. I have to fill up after every two trips. Thr price of gasoline changes daily, but it's about $50 a fill.

4x4. It's the SC that hurts my mileage.
