help with a clutch change please!
I have a 90 f250 4x4 with a 302 and a 5spd. recently I have noticed what seems like the clutch slipping, (trying to accelerate, but the only thing that moves is the rpm's.) I have a pretty good working knowledge of vehicles, except for clutches. I don't have a good understanding of how they work, or what parts I need to replace. I assume some place like autozone will sell a clutch kit, but will it have all the "extra" items like the throwout bearing, etc. if not what are the "extras." I did multiple searches and read some good threads, but I am hoping you guys can kind of put it in one place for me to save some confusion.
1)how much have parts for your clutch changed cost.
2)how long did it take for you to do the job.
3)any special tools
thanks for any help very much
I needed two special tools... one to remove the hydraulic line though one can use a crescent wrench if you have to. The second special tool I needed (and made) was a steel support thing to balance the transmission on my floor jack, because I did this by myself without help, without a transmission jack. Blocks of wood can work as well, but I decided to be fancy.
Here is how I did it:

Because of my circumstances, it took me 2 weeks because I got an hour or two a day, with many interruptions (like snow, and my father in law was visiting, and we have an infant son). If you work on it straight, it's a 8-10 hour job.
