Anyone out there know where I might find a full sized bed for my 1970 F-250? The old one has dissolved.I'm in the eastern part of Ct., and can't travel to arizona or some such place to get one. After I get the brakes done, I may fix up the interior. Dashpads, anyone? Thanks, Bill.
Ouch, you too? They're pretty rare these days. You gotta hunt for them high and low... I would suggest taking a drive out to the country and keeping an eye out for 2wd F-100 or F-250 trucks with something that's in restorable condition. I was lucky enough to find a 67-72 bed that someone had been using as a trailer body for hauling trash to the dump... picked it up for $100 delivered... but I was lucky... If you're serious about restoring the truck, take a drive to the country on a scout mission and drive really slow by the farmhouses!

Long bed or short? I live in arizona and see pretty decent ones in the wrecking yards. I might be going to the wrecking yards in a couple of weeks and can see if they will ship it and how much. Eric
Bill you just missed me on getting a bed, i just sold a 67-72 8 foot bed in good shape 2 weeks ago that i had been sitting on for 3 years, was getting ready to junk it. It was located in south central CT, sold it to a guy in lebanon ct. I do know where there are a few around in CT in decent shape, Take a drive down to Warterford to Blinkers and More, There is also another one in a wrecking yard in Salem ct on rt 354 right accross from rattlesnake ledge rd called congdons garage. I know of another one but not sure if its still there, let me know if you want the name of that place too, its in higganum.
Best of luck
Thanks for responding... My wish is to find a bed with the optional storage compartment, but at this point I'm looking for something that I can run with little or no rust. Seat covers would be for the near future.See you around, Bill.
Like the guy from Arizona said, thay are as common as sand out in the west. If you can't find one that you like in your area, you should plan a trip out west for a vacation someday. You can buy whole running trucks for less than $500 bucks. (A bed goes for $50.00) Pick one up and drive it back, or save up about $250 for shipping, and get one sent to you.
I bet you could talk the wife into a short vacation to Vegas without any problem. You can get as many as you want then.
I have a real purdy bed on my 1970 f-100 but you can't have it. sorry. I was roaming around in the junk yards in Oklahoma city and there were at least 2 decent beds at one of them. I don't know how close you live to here but it may be worth the drive. The next time I go to the junkyards again I can give you the number to a place that has a good one. I think the F-250 beds are the same as the f-100 long beds. If I am wrong let me know. Anyways I'll be on the lookout.
About a half drive from my house there's a place in Still's Crossroads called the truck farm. It's a 6 acre junkyard with nothing on it except old trucks and vans. I have never seen so many 70s and 80s model Fords in one place. The guy told me that what happens is someone blows up the engine in the truck and instead of fixing it they just sell it for scrap. If you can't find a bed there, you probably won't find one at all.
