Ball joint replacement
I have 54,000 miles on my F350 and replaced the steering damper or stabilizer bar. The technician told me my ball joints were shot and would cost around $400-500 dollars. I've religiously greased this vehicle more often than recommended. Is this normal for for this to occur in a Super Duty truck? How do you know if you have bad ball joints?

Sad but true. Anyway, raise a front wheel off the ground at the lower control arm, then place a pry bar under the wheel but in contact with the ground. Apply upward pressure, and the tire shouldn't move except for the smooth compression of the tire. But if it does and you can feel it give, especially with a slight jerk or vibration, the problem is ball joint wear.
