thanks for the help
i have a 98 f150,4.6.this forum helped me troubleshoot the low flow egr problem,the egr plenum ports must be plugged so bad,the engine idles fine with the egr valve removed,am going to remove it and clean tommorrow,thanks again for your help,john g
