Exclamation I dont get it!!

OK. There is this boy in my class named Marcus. He got a detention from my American Studies teacher (who is Canadian, lol) because he was looking for his Social Studies book, and found the one she had lost. She was going around the room looking at the numbers on the back of our books while we were trying to read and he was just walking asking politely to see the numbers. She said HE was causing a disturbance while she was running around ripping books from people hands looking for the book Marcus happened to find. What a coincedents I'm sure. lol

Why did he get a detention? Idk...anyways....

Then she makes him call his mom. We can hear him telling her what happens and she really doesn't care. Then they talk some more, he hangs up the phone and says, "Hey everyone! After school I'm going to McDonald's!" and he had just got a detention!!

Lost about that too. What are our teachers doing to us? Punishing us for find the stuff they lose and be respectful while doing it.
IT'S CRAZY!!

yes it is sad but true some teachers blame students for actions they have taken so they dont get in trouble.. i had an experience with a teacher that lost a paper of mine on 3 different occasions THE SAME PAPER was lost 3 times byt he teacher.. finally when he cleaned his room he found all 3 copies along with many other students lost assignments and then announced this to the class that he found them and said too bad your grade was already out in and got zero's on it. i was extremely mad at this point and had to have parents come in and conference to get him to change the grade btu i mean there are alot of good teachers out there and then there a coupole bad ones and they ruin alot of the good that the rest of them do.

Having to go to McDonalds sounds like punishment enough...

Does Marcus have a history with this teacher? Did he tell the teacher that someone had his book or that he had found hers? Did he ask if it was o.k. to look for the book?

If I were the teacher and a kid got up and started looking for his/her book without letting me know first, it would be a problem too.

As far as the teachers behavior, maybe people in the class mess with her or are rude to her and such, maybe she's on the verge of a breakdown.

thats alright, it happens. i once was handing a paperback book to a teacher when it came out of my hand and fell on the ground, then the teacher for some reason went crazy and accused me of throwing it at him. they wanted to boot me but had no "real evidence" to do so. so i got in no trouble. but the constant harrassment and stuff for the next few months from the rest of the teachers was to much, so i dropped out. but the best thing is i learned a year later that the same teacher was caught having sex with a student, and underage for that matter and that alot of other teachers knew about the affair also, so in the end...well.....i guess what comes around goes around!!!

when i was in jr. high, a friend of mine skated by (it was roller skating week) and pulled the top of his shorts down, revealing his boxers. i took a picture just playing around (had a camera for a web class). the pic revealed no nudity but either way, i had to have my mom come to talk to the principle because it was so bad. when my mom got there (take into acount it is 45 min from her work), she was mad and told them that if this is the worst thing i ever do, she will be very proud of me. then she left. kinda put that school in their place. no detention, nothing.

at the same school, there was a kid that no teachers liked. they were constantly giving him detentions for stupid stuff. the last straw was when they tried to suspend him for having his fly down. he couldn't take it anymore and left the school for a few years.

one time under the supervision of my teacher, i accidently set the bushes in front of my school on fire...no one got in trouble though .

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why ? Our studies (at least in my school days) include History of the WORLD and this included intense history of the USA.
We aren't taught stuff just within our Borders.
I would say More Canadian's more about the US than American's do
I do feel this teacher obviously Has an Attitude though.
But maybe this student earned the recognition ?
many years ago when i was in jrhs, there were some kids that for some reason didnt like me and tried to get me expelled from school. they made some bogus complaints to an assistant principal that didnt like me either. the ap said perhaps we should talk to the principal about the problem, i just said ok, lets go and i started over to the pricinpals office, the ap said, no we will not bother him about this, just leave these guys alone. i said i dont bother them in the first place, in fact i dont even know who these guys are. i never was bothered by the ap or those guys again the rest of the year.
Not anymore. They only teach American History. You learn bout the worlds history in 7th grade. And I dont think Marcus should have cause I mean I was talking more then him and most other people were.
I'm pretty far removed from high school, but as I recall I learned more about Canada from SCTV and NHL coverage in the paper than I ever did in the classroom. And there was a LOT that we weren't taught about our own country.
on a side note...
I love history and social studies and teaching those at that level would be a really cool gig, but it seems like in order to get those gigs as a new teacher in these parts, you have to have some experience as some kind of sports coach. I knew a guy that had a degree in secondary ed with an emphasis in history/social studies and he ended up working as a kiddie camp care taker. Couldn't find a job teaching anywhere.
yes, i knew this person that graduated college with a psycology degree and went on to become a world history teacher, thing is, this person didn't have a CLUE about world history! all the school required was a degree of some sorts.
