I have a 69 truck with a 360 2V I power washed it a few weeks ago and have had a miss since....I changed points, condencer, plugs, wires, cap, roter, all the wires are in the correct firing order the timing mark and the roter are in the right spot (on center and on #1) points are @17 (tried other gaps as well) checked all the wires have the same ohm resistance on each one have tried another new set of plugs and condencer (just incase). When I start the engine (it starts right up) it will not idle and it misses so bad it sounds like I have a huge racing cam and will backfire and sputter like it is out of time...I put the timing light on it the mark moves a few degrees back and forth (due to the miss) I advanced and retarded the timing with the gun and that didn't change any thing either! I am lost and looking for help!!!!
dcreedn, it really sounds like it has jumped time. One tooth will let it run like that, but is hard to detect by looking at the timing mark and comparing the postiton of the rotor.
Try removing the air cleaner, grounding the coil wire and feel over the carb as you crank it over. Often you will feel air coming OUT of the carb as it is cranked if the timing chain has jumped.
Also try taking the distrib. cap off and turning the crank back and forth about a half inch by the timing mark while watching the rotor. I think the bolt head on the the end of the crank is a 15/16. The rotor should move as soon as you move the crank. A tiny amount of hesitation is not too bad, But an obvious hesitation is a worn timing chain which may have jumped.
If it did jump, best guess is that it was worn and water in the distrib. caused a backfire when you first cranked it and made it jump.
About the only other things would be water under the plate in the distrib. Don't remember if yours had a drain or not. That would let moisture form in the cap after you dried it.
Or, if you moved the wires, make sure that number 7 and 8 plug wires do not run next to each other. One will induce firing in the other.

Just a thought, maybe your high pressure water damaged or disconnected a vacuum line?
A damaged or disconnected vac line will cause a vacumm leak that if it was bad enough could cause a bad miss, stalling, back firing or other symtoms you describe.
Thanks for all the help... it was the stupidest thing I was setting the point gap by the book and I had to close the gap to about 14. Did that runs like a top! I am also switching to the pertronix system...just waiting for it to get here!
