First Expidition 99 XLT

Hey all new owner here of a expedition xlt. What's the biggest things to expect with this or what should i pay attention to. Every car or truck has it's own problems that are unique to make and model. Thanks

Check to see if the front sway bar links are intact and stay intact. Go aftermarket if you need to replace.
Head gasket oil leak - right rear passenger side. Leaks onto exhaust system. Depending on the age of your truck that may have been addressed by the previous owner.

Hopefully others will chime in. Good Luck

Thanks I will check these this weekend. The truck has 78,000 on it and is a 1999. So far I really like it. I appreciate the input. I am on another board too, the 67-72 truck board. I have a 67 F250 I'm restoring as well.

I did a 100,000 tune-up on my 99' XLT at my local service center complete with new plugs. After a month of driving it, one of the plugs blew out. The service center said it was common with aluminum engine blocks. BS. Luckly the tune-up came with a 6 month warranty so they covered it. I'm sure there is not much to keep this from happening but just make sure you have some warranty on your tune-up.

Also had a check engine light (code PO171 & 172) at around 130,000 that was telling me that the engine was running lean. This was an easy fix with a $7 part from the dealer. There is a hose that connects to the MAF that has a 90 degree bend in it that will become faulty over time. Just replace that one section and your all good.

Thanks for the info all. I did find a leak on the front of the motor on the drivers side and also a leak from the tranny. I think the tranny fluid is coming from the front shaft and then blowing back. It is sitting at the dealers now to get looked at as it will be under warranty. Just bought it last week and besides the leaks I think this truck will work great for my northern fishing trips and such.

FYI... Good info above but the 90 degree hose connects to the PCV, not the MAF.
