adding add-a-leaf to an add-a-leaf

I have 2001 F250 SD SC 4WD. It is a 5.4, and with x-code springs in the front, it gives the front a decent natural lift. Last year I added 1" add-a-leafs to the rear, but I still want to bring the rear up an additional 1-2". I thought about adding a 2" add-a-leaf to the spring pack (along with the existing 1" add-a-leaf), since I've been told that in reality, a 2" leaf would be closer to 1.5" in actual lift. I think that that this would give increased payload with less chance of axle wrap (as opposed to replacing the 2" blocks with 4" blocks).
Can I add the leafs to the existing ones ?

I've done it in the past, The manufacturers will tell you not to.....my guess would be for liability reasons. But I didn't have any problems other than finding longer U-bolts. I found a used set of hardware from a 6" lift and cut off the access.

it would ride better if you replace the blocks, if you add another leaf it would be extremely stiff.

You will probably need a longer center pin in addition to U bolts.

thanks for the help, and one more question

Thanks for the help to all who posted. Just one more question. If I went the 4" block route, would I be better off getting tapered blocks? I have a two piece driveshaft with a carrier bearing and non-tapered blocks. Would tapered blocks minimize the need for carrier bearing shims, or should I stay with non-tapered blocks and shim the bearing?

Have you looked at the Deaver mini pack it is a 2" mini spring pack made especially for SD and will not change the ride.
