Fuel Filters

I know there are many good vendors to buy fuel filters, but wantred to kick in these $.02. I priced fuel filters for the 6.0 at a ford dealer today, they wanted $60 plus for filters. I went to the International truck dealer and bought the set for $32. I 'll check with the International truck dealer before buying future parts for my 6.0 or 7.3.

My brother works for an International Dealer (he is a parts guy). When I need em, I get him to pick me up 3 oil filters and 1 set of fuel filters. I leave em in the truck for the dealer. They just charge for the oil, not the filters. Saves me 35 bucks on oil change, 65 bucks on fuel filter changes. (Canadian dollars).

What are the part numbers for the filters from International. I have a International dealer down the road, and plan on stopping in to check on prices. They only seem to deal with big trucks, but I might as well start to get to know them. Do you know off hand what the princing in CDN was for the parts?

Thanks!

Racor #: 32442C93 (Racor # at International dealer)
Int'l #: 1847170C92
Racor # PFF4604 (Racors # elsewhere)

These numbers per BeachBumCook (good guy) posted elsewhere.

These filter #'s from International are for the 4.5L VT275, which shares the same HFCM as the 6.0L Ford. The International version 6.0L VT 365 uses a different filter system. Kinda confusing, I know.

The IH truck dealership probably will have the best pricing and have it in stock. In my local area this is true as most school buses and some truck models use this engine.

Use Racor/Motorcraft - Fuel Filters Are Not All Equal (WIX's Are NOT The Same)!!!

The fuel filters for the Ford 6.0L are different than the International 6.0L. Ford buys the blocks from International but uses the International 4.5L motor's fuel filter for the Ford 6.0L motor.

International #: 1847170C92
Cost: $27.79/kit
Contents: (Two Racor Filters - Kit)

The link below is for an International dealer in Michigan and if you scroll down, it is the fuel filter kit for the 4.5L motor. The 6.0L motor for International uses the filter Ford uses on their 7.3L.

http://www.tricotruck.com/
(Click on "deals" and scroll down)

Racor filters use a white media that is called "AquaBloc" and helps seperate water in the HFCM unit. Other "will fit" filters by WIX and others do not have the white media (old stock did, but new stock does not). As well, at $27.79/kit, why use anything else)? Get OEM (RACOR) quality at a great price. Even Oilguard.com sells for more money... and my local dealer wants over $70.00/kit - what a waste!!!

Here is a link for the explanation of the "AquaBloc" media...

http://www.southeastpowersystems.com...0Oil%20Filters

Filters without the white media "Aqua Bloc" will allow water to possibly be sucked up into the paper pleats of the filter and possibly into your motor and injectors. As well, RACOR or Motorcraft fuel filters fit all model years of trucks (2003 - 2006) just fine, where as WIX has a filter number for 2003-2004 and a new one for 2005-2006... which concerns me and others.

I bought a new fuel filter at my local IH dealer and have confirmed all the above info. Did not check on oil filter as I buy Motorcraft at my local parts store for $19.99/each... and I just buy one at a time as needed (every 5,000 miles).

Conclusion... why use WIX and worry if they fit, whether they will seperate out the water due to the lack of AuqaBlock and why pay more?

Hope this answers your questions and helps everyone in this forum looking for quality filters at a great price.

p.s. - If you find the info useful and informative, please give me some positive feedback in the "reputation" link in the upper right - thanks.

Jeff

Before anyone asks... "What the heck is AquaBLoc"... here is a link and explanation.

Hope this helps answer the testing and comittment Ford, RACOR and International put into these sophisticated motors.

Can I use the same "International #: 1847170C92" fuel filter on an 05 6.0 or is that part number only good for the 03 & 04's? If not, is there an International fuel filter part number that will fit my 05???

Thanks!

The Racor filters that Int'l sells fits all model years.

Racor (maker of OEM for Ford) fits all model years where as WIX's do not.

Good luck and enjoy saving money.

Hey, when your there, ask what the oil filters for the 6.0L motor cost? Keep in mind our motors use the same oil filters as the IH 6.0L motor, but use the fuel filter found on the IH 4.5L motor.

Just curious what IH gets for a Racor oil filter and if less expensive than my local Advance Auto Parts store? I pay $19.99/ea for the oil filter.

Please let us know what the IH dealer has to say.... plus it is loads of fun to go to the IH dealership... as Tim Taylor would say... "MORE POWER!!!!!"
