Just wondering, I plan to get my hands on one to build before putting it in our Bronco II, I have a builders book on CD, but would love opinion on a simple build, nothing wild. Unless the bore is damaged, it'll remain stock, what cam grind would I find acceptable for low RPM power, much like an RV cam in V-8's. I want a little grunt without throwing my wallet at it, or I'd just do a V-8 swap, I don't want to go through the expense of hunting for adapters and what not, don't want to go through major wiring to upgrade to an EFI engine either. I'm not building for tire shredder or pulling, it's a daily driver, I just want an upgrade from origional.
Here are three cams to choose from, you should look at the RPM range that they are designed to run in and choose what best suits you. They're all designed for the BII.
While not exactly simple and maybe not worthwhile when doing a quicky rebuild with original pistons, you might look into having it balanced. The 60º V6 engines are very picky about balance, and a good balancing job can make quite a bit of difference.
Then there's also headers and the good old Offenhauser intake manifold, still available from Summit and others although a bit pricey at close to 400 bucks! (Glad I got mine years ago when they were still comparatively cheap!)
