Flat Spotted Axle Bearings???

I was checking my rear drums on my 78 F150. When I was done I spun the rear axle and it sounded like a rachet. I thought at first it might be the limited slip but I believe its a flat spot on the axle bearing. I did not notice this when the wheels were on it. The sound and feel is out to the outer edge of the rearend on both sides. Please tell me its just my limited slip, for I have no press to put the bearings on.

It could easily be the bearings. Any decent machine shop can install new bearings on your axle.

Put new bearings on the axles today, put it back together and still making the same sound. When I took them out the bearings were fine but I kind of tore the seals up so I had all that replaced. Didn't fix the problem but they are new now and I don't have to worry about them for a long time to come......Must be somthing in the third member.

mine does the same thing. i figured it was the spider gears but you say you have limited slip. my bearings are fine, races are fine, axles are fine, so i aint to worried about it. it drives fine no noise no problems with it. when it starts to warm up i am going to pull the 3rd member and give it a good look over becuase that is the only part of the drive train i havent looked over sence i bought it.
