EXPOSED...Block heater

I just crawled under my new '06 to locate my block heater...I think I found it! It looks like it's Brass? I couldn't believe that it has NO form of protective cap to keep the crap out!

I probably won't ever use it, but at least FORD could have put a cover on it!

I may just buy a cord and install it in the event Louisiana has a blizzard in the next few years or if I end up somewhere that is frozen!

Just made an unplanned trip to Colorado with my Louisiana 6.0 and the block heater came in handy. One morning it was -10* so although we may never need them in south Louisiana they are handy if you travel.

My thoughts exactly Wesran. I live in Fla and don't really need one. However, I do travel to cold weather states occasionally and it's piece of mind to have it there in case I need it. That's why I went ahead and installed the cord.
