hard start cold issue/new member
brand new user of this forum. i normally don't have a lot of time to surf, were abit slow today.
anyway, i just bought a 97 F350 2WD, with a psd. the first day i go out to start it after it sat outside over night (3deg.f) she would crank/no start. same thing in 25-30 deg weather. lots of white smoke. now, i know somthing about diesels, i worked on benz's in the 80's and BMW 524TD's in the late 80's EFI on a diesel is a bit new to me. i think i know what the problem is. i tested the gpr and i have no output on the glow plug side. i do have 12V from the bats, and i have a 12V/ ground signal to the relay. i also know i have to check the glow plugs. the one question i have is what is the diffrence between the NAPA part numbers on the relays? one part # gpr109, the other is gpr110.The only diff i see is the cost: $25 for the 109 and $67 for the 110. also, after reading some of the posts on here, that autolite glowplugs are not the way to go. one fellow said to get the oe part from Auto zone, but the zone says all they stock are the autolites. what's up with that? do they come in a autolite box but made by someone else? Most of the glowplugs i used were made by bosch. do they make a plug for the psd?
any help would be
Appreciated
