Extension Housing length
I have a 1983 Ford F-150 and I want to put a manual transmission in it. It came with a Automatic Transmission. I am looking around for a manual but I need to know the length of the extension housing, how can I find the length of that do I have to pull the transmission out to find out the length or is there and easier way?

The extension housing is the part that the drive shaft plugs into. Extension housing provide for the transmission mount and speedo drive connection. These are easily measured without removing anything. Converting from automatic to manual transmission is a big project and you will need to locate a manual truck that you can take parts off. Have you considered that you will need clutch pedal and linkage, fly wheel, driveshaft and possibly a new crossmember? There is more. ou may want to reconsider.
