repro grills

Hey guys, does anyone have any info on aftermarket grill surrounds for a 79 f-150? I was told that noone makes a good repro anymore. I've heard that they do not shine like the factory ones do and do not fit very well. Any input. I need a new one but do not know where to get it.

Try Dennsi Carpenter. He uses the origional Ford factory tooling on most of his parts. He sells to Autocrafters and LMC, but he also sells retail. They'll send you a free catalog.

I think the biggest problem with the repro stuff is the metal is a thinner gauge so therefore it is cheaper and not as tough. I have aftermarket repro plastic (inserts) grilles in my 75 F250 and my 73 F350. I had no problem putting them in and they still look good. After all it is plastic so it is fairly flexable within reason. The one set is over 3 years old and still looks good. I got mine locally from Certifit for around $15/each. The aluminum shell is more though. Certifits website is certifit.com.

Yeah, burg460 is right. the metal is thinner, and it doesn't shine AT ALL. I was not very impressed when I pulled my new repro shell out of the box. But, you can't find a good used one hardly anywhere, so what are ya gonna do?
