Hello all the saga continues with this beast I have (91 f-350) paid way too much for it so I gotta stick with it.... anyways.... after a lenthy investic=gation to get power to everything (mainly the tranny) I am becoming nitpicky about shifts and such. It seems to shift all the way into OD at about 35mph and then just kinda bog down and creep up to speed. does this seem like a tranny problem or a lack of power thing. I am fairly new the the diesel truck thing (I play with big ones on boats), but I know this truck cannot lack that much poop!.. any ideas?..
Thanks,
jeff K.
Welcome to the world of the E4OD, it is not a good tranny. The good news is it doesn't sound like you're slipping, but these transmissions are computer controled and have various sensors that like to fail and cause headaches.
This link will get you started on some good info:
I have a 90, a 96, and a 97. I can get all of them into OD by 35. It is just the way they are. It becomes a problem when towing. I turn off the OD. All my trans have been rebuilt. They are just that way.
That's odd, normal acceleration my doesn't kick into 4th until nearly 60.
Of course I'm not sure if mine's been modified or not, there's some king of electronic component that's been added to the harness going into the solenoid pack on the r/s of the transmission.
