Just bought a 99 Expy with 80k. It is super clean...very nice outside, and immaculate inside. Only one owner before, but no service records, so I am going to assume that they did absolutely nothing.
I live in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and commute 40 miles to Wyoming for work, so I will put some miles on her. I took her straight home from the dealership and took out the old crappy battery and replaced with a Diehard. Changed Oil, oil filter, and fuel filter. Flushed tranny fluid and replaced filter and refilled. It is winter, so I threw some new snow tires on her (17's for now, but thinking about 20's with nice performance tires when the weather changes). Replaced worn brake pads with new ceramics all around. Now...
what next? She runs like a top. Idle is a little erratic on start up. Not huge but noticeable. I am thinking TPS, MAF, and O2 sensor(4 of those?) might be a good place to start. Then new shocks? I am looking for suggestions on things to refresh before they become problems. I have enough of those with the Jag. I am not going off road with her...at least not on purpose, but I travel on some nasty unpaved roads.
Buy a satellite radio..I prefer XM but Sirius is excellent too. That way you will have quality material to listen to as you do everything else. I've driven across Wyoming dozens of times over the years and found I-80 much improved with XM.
I forgot that. It has the Alpine CD player with integrated XM and the direct connect for my ipod. Great tunes but it still only has the stock premium sound with 4x25w.
Outstanding! My old Sony XM receiver gave up the ghost the other day and I was jonesing for the 36 hours it took for a new XM roady to arrive from Crutchfield.
