VIN help
I bought a 74 F250 from a junk yard for parts, and after going through it a bit, I decided it was in alot better shape than my old 67 f250, so I was thinking of just fixing the few minor things wrong on this 74 and driving it.
(Abreviation of circumstances)
The junk yard I got it from didn't have a title for it. The county vehical registration office said I would have to have the JY get a title for it, in order to leagally sell it to me. The JY didn't really seem like they wanted to bother with it now that they have their money.
Now, I can get a title for it through one of the vintage automobile title places for $$$, so I guess I'm still on track.
Before I do anything else though, I am trying to look up the VIN to see if it was stolen or something.
NOW, THE REAL PROBLEM...... I CAN'T FIND THE VIN
The first place I looked was on the dash were they always are. Not a trace of where one might even have been.
Next I looked at the tag on the drivers door post. It listed the vin as F25MKU22372. I thought this was more likely the model number, as it wasn't the standard 17 digits.
Third I riffled through the glove box and came across an old registration. It lists the VIN as F25MKU22372 as well.
This is fine and dandy, as I would just accept this as legal proof. But all of the VIN checkers that I have found on line will not accept this as a valid VIN.
Now what?
I guess I could just go down to the vehical registry and stand for an hour in line and ask them to look it up, but if it is stolen or something, I don't want to be tackled and hog tied while attempting to escape.
Any suggestions as to where else on the vehical I should look for a real VIN? Did ford do something funky with them that year? Any help would be apreciated.

Not on these trucks, They were attached on the dash on Cars.
The 11 digit vin # (for these year trucks) you read is correct for your truck in question. The rating plate is usually on the door near the latch
The Standard 17 digits is for the 81 and newer trucks.
You can verify the Vin# on the passenger side top frame rail between the firewall & rad .
