How are you guys registering your Ex's...? I'm about to register mine in North Carolina and here are the price brackets and the highest they go on private truck is 6k lbs... Isn't the 4x2 Ex around 8,900?
Also, does anyone know what it would take to register it as a "truck" which I assume means commercial truck? Doesn't this allow you to park in any downtown loading zones too? I was told that a long time ago but never looked into it. Thanks guys, just wondering what everyone else was doing...
The X with 2wd and the 7.3 are 8900 lbs. no matter what the model year (2000-2003). If you have 4wd it comes up to 9200 lbs. Just check the sticker when you open the driveside door. It tells no lies.
If anyone found this informative, please add to my reputation in the upper right hand corner.

Guys, those weights you guy posted are the Gross Vehicle Weight Restriction. Those are NOT the actual weights of the truck.
My 05 2wd V10 weighs 6680 lbs.
Sounds like Excursions have to be registered as commercial trucks in NC. Mine is not registered commercial here in Hawaii. There is a cut-off weight (I don't know it) but it is certainy higher than 6K!
I just registered my X in N.C. last month. $40 to title....$28 for private passenger plates. "Weighted" plates are issued for open back trucks & pickups.
You can register it as a "multi passenger" vehicle, it should only cost $28 for the tag.
Where I live (WA state) they just started a new fee schedule for licensing. Turns out that my Ex get classed as a 'multi passenger' vehicle and doesn't have any GVW fees. My Toyota Tacoma pickup turns out to cost more to license than the EX because of the GVW... even though we know I can tow sooooo much more with the Ex
In Penna., the Ex is considered a car, station wagon. The registration is the same $ as a Hundi, I think $35 if I rmember. If it was a pick up, it wold be over $100.
