remove a leaf

I want to remove a leaf from the rear and worry about snapping off the through bolt that holds them together. Where to get one? What about the seperator anti squeek sheet between the springs? Also plan to replace the bushings with poly. Any experiences to share would be appreciated.

Hi,

I heated mine with a propane torch to get the bolts to let go. If you break one you might be able to get one at a local parts place. Make sure the integrety (grade) of the bolt is duplicated, I think that in that application you want a "softer" bolt to flex slightly with the loads, therefore the heating/cooling from the torch shouldn't be a problem. (When you heat and then slowly cool a bolt it tends to lose it's hardness)

I used some clear floor matting used for indoor carpet from a local home depot to work as an insulator (it was the closest thing I could find to what I removed). It worked great, with no squeeks.

Hope this helps,
-Brents
