working for the enemy

well after searching forever i finally found a job, at honda of america. its a warehouse were parts are stored and then shipped. i am working through a job service center so they sign my checks not honda.

although i have to wear a honda work shirt i still wear my old blue Ford Racing hat with pride.

the work is not to bad scan a bunch of bar codes and package parts. i work 4 hours a day but hopefully will get bumped tp full time soon.

The check won't bounce, right?

You're not working for Geely are you?

Calm down.

And good luck at the job!

well, i wouldn't call it working for the enemy, honda at least has its honda of america for its american operations instead of shipping all final products to the USA. sure its for their money sakes also, but provides valuable jobs for us americans also. good luck with the new job.

Hey, I own two Hondas (motorcycles). They have a fairly new mfg plant in Marysville, Ohio where they make the Gold wings and VTX. For motorcycles, they are ok!

Good luck with the new job Jimbo. All I can say is that there is some of people looking for short cuts and the easy way out (Not working). We had our business and was looking for people to hire, we would go to the employment office and hire people off welfare. They would quit after only a day or so medium effort work (It was janitoral work and not that hard). Just ticked me off.......

Actually, the Marysville motorcycle plant opened in 1979. Okay, okay, I guess that could be considered fairly new. They also have a car plant in Marysville, an engine plant in Anna, and another car plant in East Liberty. They employ thousands of Ohioans and continuously give back to the community. I applied for a job there in December but they weren't hiring at the time. Consider yourself fortunate and good luck with the new job!!

So Honda have some plants in the US? Maybe I've been viewing them all wrong, I mean I guess they are employing Americans.

But I still don't think I'll run out and buy a Honda anytime soon.

thanks guys! Ive been doing automotive detailing forever but just wasnt keeping head above water. i will still be doing it on the side though just becouse i love the work.

the name honda of america does mean the parts are made in america, stored in america, and sold in america, so either way its helping out the american economy. the warehouse holds various auto, and motercycle/atv parts.

after a short trail period they hire you on full time with full benifits. as of now im pulling in $7.80 an hour for 4 hours a day, for now its enough for me to make my payment on the truck and keep both my trucks insured. after i make it full time i should have it made, the pay jumps way up for full time. ive been talking to a few of the older guys there who are bringing in over 15 bucks an hour.

the people are friendly and your not worked like a horse. there is a simply american sence of pride in putting the boots on and going to work, and although i handle honda parts all day you'll never see one in my driveway. like the title said i am working for the enemy but its to keep my old fords on the road.

Pay your taxes and be happy to be a US citizen

That's what it's all about anyway. You're going to spend money in the US, driving our economy.

The lines between "us" and "them" are so blurry that even when you think it's "us" it's really "them" - if you know what I mean

Don't worry about it, and take care of the rest of your life...

Hopefully after work, when working at Honda you should wear both the shirt and the hat. ;-)

After all, Honda is putting money in your pocket, not Ford.

Congrats on the new job! I wear my Ford hat with pride everyday even when I'm heading to the desert with three Hondas in the back of my truck.
