Smile How many miles do you have?

I am wondering how many miles everyone has on their motors and or stock transmission. I expect to see some high numbers for the motor part, BUT. Not to sure the same will be true for the tranys. I have 113,500 on my stock trany and motor. I wonder how much longer my trans is going to last. Sure it has a lot to do with the way you drive and the way you maintain. I figure everyone here kind of has different driving ways and different ways/views to maintain the trucks. If you answer this please include mileage and a basic description of your driving and maintaince.

Sorry for my crappy spelling.

02 psd 4x4 cclb, K&N FIPK intake, 80hp superchip, 4" turbo back, wastegate deact, 6.5" procomp lift, 37" tires, CB w/ 400 watts-o-power, ain't stoppen here (not yet)

i am still on my first motor and first transmission. i bought the truck with 69xxx miles, last year. bone stock then. i have since added modifications to what it is now. i added a sonnax/springs mod early on, so that helped some. i also changed (not flushed) the fluid out then. two weeks ago, i just added an inline magnetic filter and flushed it out with Amsoil TorqueDrive.

i drive pretty hard, but most of the hard acceleration is when the Torque converter is locked (either by default or manually with my switch). the stock torque converter is very "soft".. by that i mean that it doesnt transfer alot of the torque to the ground. the feeling of mashing on the pedal and not having alot of the "throw you back in your seat" feeling, it is wasing most of the torque being transferred thru it. now when the TC is locked, you have the direct drive feeling, which is good.

i have 74,000 now, i expect a long life from my transmission. especially after i replace it with a triple disk converter.

If I use a flip chip such as a DP with firm shifting, is that going to help. I had thought of putting the sonnax/springs in, but don't know if it will do me much good or bad. As I plan to go to a chip with firm shifting. Can I use a sonnax and a tuner/chip with firm shifting?
I bought the truck with 110,000 and changed the trany fluids within a week of having it, the fluid was dark and kind of stinky.

99.5 w/ 170,000 on original motor and automatic tranny (fingers crossed). Mostly highway driving , very little off-roading, few times a year pull a 6,000 lb. trailer. As far as maintenance schedule I subscribe to the theory of fixing it before it breaks (shows signs of wear) which has been an excellent plan as I have never been stranded with this vehicle as of yet. May be coming soon with a tranny issue! Below is a stack of 'Motorcraft' preventative maintenance, spare parts, and other receipts since May '99. Just TODAY replaced pedal assembly (original) and cps (BLACK) as I just starting picking up some 'off-idle' issues this week. Two test drives later and problem appears to be solved. BTW, this information is deemed to be true as I am the original owner. I was 'dieseling' way before dieseling was cool.

41,000 miles
Sonnex valve and Tri-Springs in the tranny

With the mods that I have - the tranny prolly isn't too happy - I will be fixing this issue very shortly!

Mine is an early 99 with a six speed manual trany and 3.73 rear end. Bought new in August 1998. 212,000 miles on the truck, looking to get that much more out of it. Oil and filter get changed every 5,000 and fuel filter and air filter every 15,000. Only had to replace normal wear stuff - clutch, water pump, shocks, and brakes - all between 130,000 & 150,000 miles. Average MPG 18-19 around town, 20-21 on the open road, worst was 16. Drive the truck fairly easy, but do clean out the soot from time to time. Tow fairly often, but nothing over about 8,000 lbs, yet. Truck is stock except for Kwik filter (just recently done and LOVE it) and straight pipe exhaust, been nice and loud since warranty ran out.

Just had transmission rebuilt at 83,000 miles I had them add H/D torque converter, Sonnax value/spring, Mag-hytec oil pan.

I do tow alot , so i have the trans serviced every 30,000 miles by the same trans shop since i'll owned the truck. Fluid has always looked good when they drained.

I didn't have the extra $ or the time for a BTS transmission ($3,600.00)
that was my first choice, so i just rebuilt mine ($2,200.00)

Although I know this is a Power Stroke forum, I figured I would chime-in anyway...

I got a 2006 Chevy Silverado with the 6600 Duramax. She's got 9500 miles on her, and so far I've only had to overhaul the engine once and replace the tranny twice. She's been a good truck, but I fear the day when things REALLY start to go wrong.

OK, time to put on the serious face.....

My stock '01 has 135k miles on it and not a problem to speak of.

Where's that chunk of wood to knock on guys???

Why would you buy a different brand truck when your 01 PSD gives you no trouble ????

I've got just shy of 150K on the stock trans. Mods came on the motor at about 120K. Sonnax came at 130K. Now the Sonnax is out and replaced with a BTS valve body, along with a DP Tuner flip chip and an external transmission filter, all of which should help prolong the life of the trans. I haven't noticed any problems yet, but I know the day will come when the trans will die. I drive pretty hard and do a lot of towing/hauling over the summer time with the truck, but usually it's a much lighter weight than what this truck is made for. I typically tow a trailer weighing in at around 6000lbs about every third weekend in the summer. I haven't added an extra trans cooler yet, but it's probably in the works for this spring/summer.

Bought mine with 185,000 on tranny. Engine was replaced at 175,000 due to neglect with the air filter. Now have 250,000 on truck. Tranny starting to act up a bit. I put a Sonnex kit in it a couple of weeks ago. Shifting like new again.
