The colour of the "Wee Beastie" is what FoMoCo called in '58, "Vermillion".
1. A bright red mercuric sulfide used as a pigment.
2. A vivid red to reddish orange. Also called Chinese red, cinnabar.
Have you thought about researching the vin and "modernizing" the original color scheme? My '60 Custom Cab was Corinthian White and Academy Blue when it rolled off the line. I'm going to redo it in an opalescent white and a satiny, frosted blue...kinda retro-modern...
Thanks to EVERYONE for their input, I am down to 3 choices right now, 96 Ford RioRed, Black and the dark purple on late model Chryslers (code PCN) have talked to my graphics guy and all of these will work with our schemes. I really appreciate all of your opinions and the thought that comes with them. you guys are great!
I'd echo the Chrome Yellow, I know that if I wasn't going for a stock looking (from the exterior anyways) build on my 52, that would be my first choice (i'll be going with either Sheridan Blue or Forest green). Growing up my dad had a 78 F-100 that was Chrome yellow with metallic brown body striping. Looked really sharp.

Only chrome on mine will be grill, mirrors and wheels (outside anyway). CHROME YELLOW.... And JUST cause you're such a nice guy and all... you have my permission to use it too !!!
We are going with Dupont "Amazing Grape" hot hues with silver on Gracie.
you already posted that Chuck, but the good thing is that it was the same both times, you haven't changed your mind, I, on the other hand, can't say that. Thanks
I saw a trick paint job a couple of years back that I may try someday. It was on a 56 effie. All the horizontal parts were midnight blue and all the vertical parts were black. So the roof, hood, and fenders were dark blue on the top and then gradually melded to black as they turned downward. Way cool! Jag
