Hello from Houston!
My name is Chess and ,obviously, I'm new to the site. I recently purchased a '68 Ranger without a engine or tranny. Body is in really good shape and it has a narrowed 9" out back. All that for $1250. So now I'm looking at building and installing a killer motor (probably 347 stroker), probably a supercharger, and a stout AOD. My goal is between 450-500 hp at the rear wheels, but more importantly, dead reliable. This truck will be my daily driver at some point. Without getting too technical some of my questions involve; stroker motors, forged internals, cam selection, head selection, fuel injection, good transmission candidates, and how these parts relate to supercharging. I'm not set on supercharging, but I don't know where I would mount a nitrous bottle. I also plan to lower the truck and install exhaust cutouts. Basically I am building a sleeper. I mention some of my questions in the hopes that your members who feel they have something to contribute to a topic will look in the appropriate tech section for my questions.
This is my second project. I recently completed a '65 mustang coupe that I spent way too much money on paint and body. I learned my lesson, but fortunately, the showy stuff is going to help me sell the car so I can build the truck. I would like to post pics of my car here and on cardomain.com, but if that's a problem on this site, no big deal. Anyway, thanks in advance for everyone's help and I hope I can offer some help also.
