Well I got my msd system. 6al, cap-a-dapt, 8.5mm wires, Ford blaster 2 coil, and a adjustable timing box. All MSD! My question is, I want to keep the stock ignition in place. It looks like I have to cut the wires on my cap that connects to the coil. Is there a way around this? I know someone has to have done this before. I want to do this incase the 6al ever fails. Any ideas or thoughts on how to do this?

How about any ideas or things I should avoid before I start this? Right now I am trying to figure out where to mount the two boxes. I'd love to here peoples ideas on what to do and not to do.

I mounted my MSD Box on the drivers side in front of the Duraspark box. I cut the coil wires and installed some insulated male/female plugs on the old and new wires just in case I had to put the old one back in. Same with the Duraspark wires. I keep the old coil in the tool box along with an extra duraspark unit just in case. I used 8 guage wire from the battery area, back to the firewall and across to the drivers side, then up to the MSD box. There is an inline fuse and the wires are enclosed in flexible sheathing for a cleaner look. I too have the variable timing box, but have not mounted it in the truck yet. I would like to hear how yours works out. Also, I beleive that MSD sells an adapter wire that will keep you from having to cut your coil wires if you are not happy with the idea of that. Mike
